Sonoma Mist

The challenge
In the highly competitive California wine industry, having a strong visual presence and memorable brand name on the bottle is almost as important as what’s in the bottle.

A well-known vintner in the Sonoma Valley wanted to market a moderately priced collection of wines to the young wine enthusiast who may not have formed an allegiance to any particular vineyard. Their goal was to create a bold new look for their wine, but still allude to the romance of the California coast.

The resolution
We presented a number of name brand options, color palettes indicative of the warm light of a California sunrise, and suggestions on how to create a demand for their product through the subliminal power of words and imagery.

Our client chose Sonoma Mist, because it captured the essence of a vineyard shrouded in an early morning mist. They also appreciated the contemporary graphics and font selection our talented graphic designer incorporated into the logo.


Maryanna, I’m still amazed at how you and your team managed to put into words and images the passion for product and place we conveyed to you in our meetings and conversations. At your suggestion, we’re moving forward with the Merlot and Chardonnay introduction for the Spring 2011 rollout.
